Remember - I love researching! And the things I research come out of my life experiences, needs and wants.
So - we're looking to retire early next year and move from our "working region" into our "retirement region" - literally a move of about 60 miles away.
This involves selling our home of 20 years (a mobile home in a mobile home community) and finding a rental property in the new area. Whew - transitioning to retirement is something else I'll blog about shortly!
So - I've made the call to the community management to inform them because they have "first right of refusal". Because I don't anticipate them meeting our required price I looked into inexpensive ways to advertise.
Craig's List!!! Great way to advertise! Inexpensive and each time you edit your Selling Home ad it will shoot to the top of the daily list of ads! Terrific! So, I'm working on our ad by first reviewing the ads already there for similar housing.
This proved to be very revealing in terms of finding comparable prices in our region. Additionally I'll now look at this as a source for rentals in our new "retirement region".
Reading other ads provided many ideas of the content to include in our ad - what to feature/s to highlight, best picture views to include (those are extremely important - ever look at a Craig's list that doesn't have photos?)
The other item I researched and will include in our ad is - how do you finance mobile homes in our state?
First - I started by calling the company that currently finances my mobile home. This out-of-state company had purchased my original mortgage and they now don't accept applications from residents in our state.
So - googled "NYS mobile home financing" Found there weren't too many companies that accept applications (3 to be exact). So I've copied/pasted their address, phone and requirements for application into a document that I can send out to people inquiring about our home.
Now I'm just waiting to hear from our current mobile home community to set up a time for them to visit and see what they are interested in purchasing AND if I'm interested in selling to them.
